But, all that changed this week in a surprise move when Facebook announced, "Hey, guys, it's okay. Go ahead and do those contest like you want to (and like many people did anyway) and we're okay with it now". The news was a shock for many people and a relief for many others who ran "illegal" contests anyway - knowingly or unknowingly.
What was behind the change? Not sure. There are many theories. Maybe it was just too hard to police. There are still some rules you need to know about, so please look over Facebook's New Policy Change.
Not unrelated, Facebook also announced last week that they will be showing more high quality posts in your news feed. What this means isn't completely clear, but they seem to be targeting memes. It seems like they're interested in penalizing businesses (and personal profiles) who post things like "click if you glad it's Friday" with an image of a beer or something like that. Personally, I'm glad of that.
So, yeah, Facebook might be called Two-Facedbook, but I'm glad of this change. It makes it way easier for your small business to do giveaways and contests. So, read the rules and have some fun!
